Professional Coaching: Moore Hutchinson
St. Patrick's Racquets Club has its own coach, Moore Hutchinson, of Hutchinson Tennis Academy.
Moore is recognised with the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and has been coaching for 20 years in Spain, the UK and Ireland.
He also coaches in many local primary and secondary/grammar schools. Moore has been coaching at St. Patrick's since 2017.
Moore organises junior coaching for children and young people from around age 7 upwards at the club courts . His junior coaching takes place on Saturdays and continues throughout the year, only stopping in January and February. Some of those children even stay on, with parental supervision, to play matches between themselves.
In addition Moore runs tennis camps for these age groups during school holidays at Easter, summer and Halloween. These coaching lessons on Saturdays and camps during the school holidays are very popular and well attended. This coaching and camps are open to club members and non-members alike. For junior coaching Moore is supported by assistant coach Michael Hutchinson who is also a PTR qualified coach.
It is the intention that some of these children who attend coaching will be entered into various age-group tennis leagues, once inter-club matches resume again. Moore will also involve parents in tennis by organising parent/child matches within the coaching group
Moore also takes an adult coaching class on Thursday mornings and in early 2020 he held coaching for adult beginners and people returning to tennis after a prolonged gap, again for members and non-members. That was very successful and a number of people who attended the coaching took benefit of a discounted membership fee and joined the club. It is intended that Moore will organise a similar course in early spring 2121. He will also organise an evening event for adult players, with games and drills.
