A Brief History...

Ladies Belfast & District Division 1 Sin

St. Patrick's was originally formed in 1970 as St. Patrick’s Lawn Tennis Club, when members had use of two clay courts which had been laid for recreational purposes in 1962.

The club affiliated to the Belfast and District Tennis League and progressed through the divisions to Division 1, finishing runners-up in 1986, 1987 and 1990.

In 1977, St. Patrick’s Racquets Club replaced St. Patrick’s Lawn Tennis Club, with the addition of competitive badminton being played. Table tennis has also been part of the set up with league success at various levels.

In 1984, two further courts were added and in 1991, after five years in the planning, the Club opened a new clubhouse. The Club now has four astroturf courts (two of which are floodlit), a pavilion with changing facilities and a function room which is used by the table tennis club. Members will also use the pavilion for social events, hold meetings and to entertain visiting teams.

Over the years St. Patrick’s teams and individuals have won over 50 titles and have continued to be successful!
